Infrastructure and Reserve
Whilst civil construction has been paused at Pinnacle, we are working with authorities and other developers in the area to deliver critical service infrastructure to enable the continued rollout of Pinnacle.
A further temporary sewer pump station will be required to cater for future residents within Pinnacle and nearby estates and construction on this and ancillary pipelines will be shortly commenced.
At its 22 February 2023, Council meeting, the City of Ballarat resolved to bring forward funds to deliver one of the wetland retarding basins within the 22 hectares of parkland in Pinnacle. Whilst this resolution will see the delivery of part of the critical drainage infrastructure in the shorter term, there are still some matters that need to be worked through prior to Council being able to get on the ground and deliver that basin. We do however hope to see works commence on this wetland later in 2023.
Whilst that Council resolution is the first step in progressing works within the Pinnacle parkland, unfortunately, until that basin and a further basin to its south are delivered, we cannot construct the playground in the parkland (to avoid damage to that space given it is between the two and to ensure play activities are removed from work zones). The delivery of the second wetland retarding basin however will require an amendment to the Ballarat West Development Contributions Plan, which is currently being prepared by Council and in which, unfortunately, is a lengthy process. As such, at this time, the timing is unknown. However given we are now getting greater certainty on the detailed design of the wetlands, we will now be able to develop our plans for the Pinnacle playground so as it can be delivered soon after the required drainage infrastructure is in place. Please rest assured that we are committed to delivering the playground when practicably possible.
