Whilst those discussions have protracted beyond initial expectations, they continue and we are hopeful that the works will be able to commence on the basin when the weather improves towards the end of 2024/early 2025.

Until that basin and a further basin to its south is delivered, we cannot proceed with the further construction/embellishment of the reserve, including the playground area. This is to avoid damage to those spaces and ensure play activities are not located within work zones, with the future playground sitting between the two wetland areas.

The delivery of the second wetland is also subject to an amendment to the Ballarat West Development Contributions Plan, which is currently being prepared by Council and in which, unfortunately, is a lengthy process. As such, at this time, the timing is unknown. However given we now have greater certainty on the detailed design of the wetlands we are developing plans for the Pinnacle playground so as it can be delivered soon after the required drainage infrastructure is in place.
